When you refer to a variable that does not exist then you may get the following error:

WASX7017E: Exception received while running file "C:/scripts/gen.py"; exception information: com.ibm.bsf.BSFException: exception from Jython:
Traceback (innermost last):
File "<string>", line 289, in ?
File "<string>", line 134, in generate
File "<string>", line 189, in genAttributeMethodSectionHeader
NameError: newline

In the Jython example above, there is a variable called newLine, but in a typing error it is being referred to as newline. Also the wsadmin error code  WASX7017E informs us that there is an error while running a file. This is because the Jython being executed is being run from a script passed via the command line to wsadmin.
