This document outlines the basics steps to download and install IBM Rational Application Developer 8.5

The items above were the options that are available for the RAD installation. The options in Red I did not download.

Total Size: 12.6 GB

I have a high speed network, so it only took an hour or so to download the entire RAD set of packages I have chosen. 11GB is a lot to download, make sure you have the time.

Expanded RAD setup

I expanded the *_1.zip files into the current folder

I then launched the install -> Note, I have IBM Installation Manager 1.5.3 already installed as I use WebSphere Application Server a lot.

I did this as I did not want to expand all the files into the wrong location. I loaded the IBMIM installer and it did not complain about not finding files, so I am expanding all in to the same location i.e. expand to current folder.

Let us now try an d run the installation of RAD 8.5
